ABOUT OUR GROUP

Founded in 2023, the Cambridge Psychedelic Research Group (CPRG) is a ground-breaking, multi-institutional partnership between the University of Cambridge, the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust (CPFT), and the Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CUH). The group brings together expertise across psychiatry, neuroscience, and clinical trial design to investigate the therapeutic potential of classic psychedelics, empathogens, and dissociative compounds in mental disorders.

Our mission is to develop, test, and implement safe, inclusive, and evidence-based psychedelic therapies for people living with serious mental illness. We pursue this through community-based research, academic-industry partnerships, and international collaborations — with a commitment to ensuring that psychedelic therapies are developed with, and effective for, the diverse populations they aim to serve.

MEET THE FOUNDER

Dr Liliana Galindo, MD, PhD is an Affiliated Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Cambridge, and a Consultant Psychiatrist and Medical Leader in Psychosis at the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust (CPFT). For over a decade, her research has examined altered states of consciousness, specifically the psychoactive and potential therapeutic effects of psychedelics and related compounds, and their relevance to the mechanisms underlying psychopathology, including early psychosis.

Dr Galindo co-leads the Psychosis Risk Outcomes Network (ProNET), a Yale-led global initiative advancing prevention and treatment for individuals at clinical high risk for psychosis. She also co-facilitates Conversations with Experts by Experience (CEbE), a forum in which people with lived experience of mental health challenges share their perspectives with researchers and PhD students.

Support our research

Our work is made possible by the generous support of philanthropists, industry partners, and private individuals. Their contributions enable us to conduct rigorous research, train the next generation of clinicians and scientists, and share accurate information about psychedelic therapy with the wider public.

To discuss a gift or learn how philanthropy shapes our work, please contact Belen Tejada-Romero, Head of Development — Brain and Mind Health, at the University of Cambridge.
